Happy New Year to you all from Lucy at Chic Wedding Boutique.  I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, and to all you soon-to-be brides, I hope the boxes of roses, celebrations and miniature heroes haven’t thown the wedding dress diet completely out the window!  (Who can diet at Christmas??  Its impossible!)

Lots of you will be fabulously excited now that the year has ticked over to 2009 and your Spring and Summer weddings are only a few months away.  Being a newly wed myself (August 2008), I can bet that a lot of you are probably panicking that the wedding is now ‘this year’ and ‘oh my God, I have so much to do!’  With the Christmas celebrations it is only natural to put the big day to the back of your mind and instead focus on what you are buying for auntie Grace and Uncle Ted, and to be honest, I think it really helps to let something else take your focus for a while.  We work so hard on planning and preparing for our big day that it is nice to sit back and give it a rest.  However!  It is now time to start thinking ahead again, and a great way to start the new year is to take a look again at your wedding plan and wedding budget and see where you are and what needs to be done.  Re-check that ‘to-do’ list, or write one from scratch if you are yet to make one.  There are so many elements involved in the big day and we’re not all lucky enough to have a personal wedding planner to do this for us.  Things need to be kept in check, so make a list of all the big things that need to be completed, booked, made, paid for or bought and I promise you, as each one gets ticked off that list, life gets easier and easier!  It may seem detailed and a bit neurotic, but believe me, it will save you stress in the long run!  Also, look again at the budget and make sure you haven’t gone too crazy with anything.  If you have had to spend more than you had planned on something (this happened to us with our entertainment) start cutting back on something else, for instance, make your own invitations, place names and table numbers.

At the Boutique we will be striving to find more lovely, vintage themed items to tempt you with.  Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like information on any of the items you see on the site.  Likewise, if there is something you are looking for and just can’t find, drop me an email to see if I can help!
